When in the fall of 1998 bookers for two theatres in Bergen and Oslo, Norway, began to draw up bold plans for a loosely coordinated sex-in-cinema series set to include hard-core porno classics, Deep Throat and Behind the Green Door, they did so with some apprehension and much debate among themselves. Their nervousness was not unfounded, for it was an idea certain in Norway to cause controversy and draw legal opposition.
